Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle; that is how we do it in Sharm El Sheikh!
Our consumption patterns and behaviors have drastically changed over the course of the last century. Not only do we consume more, but we have become accustomed to single and short-term use of products, which puts more and more pressure on our natural resources. Amidst this reality, waste becomes inevitable, and if not managed properly, it can have disastrous consequences on the environment.
The first step to waste management is reducing the amount of waste produced. In this light, the Governorate of South Sinai decided to ban single-use plastic bags in the city of Sharm El Sheikh. The ban is accompanied by investments in waste collection, smart segregations systems and recycling to prevent waste from polluting our environment, and simultaneously make the most out of recycling precious resources.
The city is currently shifting away from single-use plastic bags, and encourages you to do the same. When visiting Sharm El Sheikh, be sure to bring a tote bag or any reusable bag to pack your souvenirs and groceries.
Please leave our environments clean by throwing waste in designated bins and reduce your consumption of non-reusable items!
